Making a bunch of crap.

Feb.8th/15

I recently had a conversation with a friend of mine, who is currently completing her MFA. Our conversation ranged from moving to a new place where no one knows you or your art, being reborn, and making a bunch of crap. I know the feeling, all of it. It wasn't long ago that I was living in a different city, where no one knew a thing about me, and I didn't know a thing about them or even the city. It was that experience that fueled a new body of work for me, essentially hitting a restart button on my practice, and now I'm entering that last part: making a bunch of crap. We talked about how making a bunch of crap isn't nessessarily a bad thing, and how sometimes it's just part of it all, and it will hopefully lead to something. As of late I've been doing a whole lot of experimentation, leading up to something completely unknown. I'll shamelessly admit that I had no idea what I was trying to do, but I just hoped it was going somewhere (anywhere really), and eventually it did. But that wasn't without making a bunch of crap first! Big thanks to my friend(s) who made this shoot possible!
